Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Edwards Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current individual member of the Institute of Asset Management at student or associate level.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for asset management and a strong commitment to continuous learning.
- Submit a compelling application detailing how the bursary will be utilized and the anticipated learning outcomes.
Diverse Learning Experiences
The Edwards Bursary encourages a diverse range of learning experiences that can help enrich your asset management journey.
Suitable learning experiences include, but are not limited to:
- Courses and Workshops: Choose from a wide array of certificate courses, diploma programs, or short workshops tailored to your specific interests.
- Taught Programs: Immerse yourself in structured educational programs or certifications offered by renowned institutions or organizations.
- Work Shadowing: Gain invaluable insights by observing and learning from seasoned asset management professionals in their day-to-day roles.
- Site Visits: Experience hands-on learning by visiting operational asset management sites and understanding best practices.

The application process for the Edwards Bursary is straightforward:
- Prepare a detailed business case showcasing your passion for asset management and your desired learning experience.
- Clearly outline your learning objectives and how the bursary will support your professional growth.
- Create a comprehensive budget plan, allocating the bursary funds to cover your chosen learning opportunity's expenses.
- Submit your completed application as a Word document, along with any supporting documents, to Jodie Williamson on or before 28 February 2025.
About the Edwards Bursary
The Edwards Bursary is a merit-based financial assistance program that provides up to £2000 GBP/ $2600 USD/ €2350 EUR in support to asset management enthusiasts pursuing diverse learning experiences. Through this bursary, the Institute of Asset Management seeks to encourage continuous learning and enhance professional competence.
The Edwards Bursary was announced in November 2022 in recognition of the immense contribution of Richard Edwards to the Institute. Richard stood down from the IAM Board in September 2022 after more than 13 years. He is probably best known within the asset management community for his significant contribution to the IAM knowledge base. Richard continues to represent the IAM on the Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management knowledge projects.
